Wow! crazy deals and a crazy summer

Sorry about being absent for sooooo long. It has been one of those summers. We had a huge family reunion the beginning of August and of course lots of rain came with lots of visitors. Didn’t get too much crafting done except the huge project I made using the banner kit.. As some of you know, we lost our son in April. He loved parties and family gathering. Family is one of the most important things in our household. I was sad that he could not be there and when I started thinking, I realized we had lost 17 loved ones just on Roch’s side. Eight since 2010. (the last family reunion). I wanted to do something to commemorate them so they could be part of the party. So….. I made a banner using the banner Kit from Stampin’ Up, the rosette die, the pansy punch and some ink and ribbon. It took a while. I made 3 flowers for every banner and one rosette in which their photo lay.

Here’s a picture of the whole thing and one of our son. As you can see, it took up my living room wall!!  Got an event? This banner Kit is just fabulous!  Go simple or go crazy! Check it out in the annual catalog page 155. The rosette die is no longer available but you can make them by accordion folding strips of paper. It was just soooo much easier with the die.

Remember to check out this week’s specials and the clearance Rack. The Pansy Punch is in there as well as other great product. You can order online by using the hostess code 2ZYQX7TR

Now we are back to normal. Whatever normal is LOL. The visitors are gone and we are getting ready to go to Ontario for a family event on my side – a Golf Tournament!! What fun. Kevin would have enjoyed that too.

But before we leave I have 3 workshops this week for the Launch of the new Holiday Catalog by Stampin’ up! Such great products this year!! I’ve been having a grand ol’ time playing with some of the things, that as a Demonstrator, I get to order ahead of time. Want your chance? I can’t decide which is my favorite product, but if I were a betting person I bet you will all just love the new precision base plate!! No more waxed paper or dryer sheets. This baby does the whole job. All you have to do is take a stiff brush. (one to clean dentures works great) and all the little pieces just fall out.  This was great when I was preparing my workshop with the new ornament dies. Wowzer!!!

Check these out!! Aren’t they just gorgeous!!!!! You can view the holiday catalog online starting September 1, 2015. If you want a paper copy, just send me and email and I will tell you how you can get one. Now’s the time to stock up on that gold glitter paper for your Christmas projects. Do you need a get well card?

Do you need a get well card. I found this card, I think on Pinterest. I was in need of a get well card. I thought it was so stinkin’ cute, I just had to do one. My sister in law has been hospitalized with pneumonia which of course started as the “common” cold. She went in on the 23rd of December and was released only this week-end. Since October, our hospital has been closed to visitors because of the severity  of the “common” cold. Her daughter was allowed a visit on the 24th but not Christmas day and once or twice since then. She couldn’t even get the TV installed, because the person that takes the request form and hook up was not allowed on the floors!  Pretty bad huh?Roch went to see his sister and bring our card, but was refused visitation. He had to leave the package at the door!   .  With the cold season upon us and every other person down with it, I thought this was an excellent get well card. It’s guaranteed to put a smile on one’s face, don’t you think? So far I have been pretty lucky considering my dear hubby and son caught it. But it is hovering over me, just waiting for me to overdue so my defenses are down. LOL.

I wish I could take the credit for creating this adorable pop-up. But alas… no. I am just responsible for spreading it around…… just like the “common” cold.

I have been asked to share the instructions, so I will by tomorrow. Check back here then or if I am done today, I will let you all know.

So wait no more….. Here is my little kleenex pop up get well card. I made the outside quite simple so not to take away the surprise inside. You can make it any way as simple or as complicated as you wish.

Come back tomorrow. I will have the instructions posted with maybe a video tutorial.

Inside with Pop up Translation of text is “After the rain, comes the good weather.”

The outside of the card very simple and of course there is a matching envelope.

Yahooo What a great weekend!

Yahooo What a great weekend! It was our yearly crop on the weekend. We were 16 ladies addicted to Scrapbooking. The theme was Western. The three organizers are connected to the military. Their hard work preparing this weekend crop paid off big time. We had a blast.  Our group was small but that made it even more fun.

Saturday we had a photo session outdoors. Lac Pouce in Laterierre QC is  well known for it’s beautiful scenery. Being fall, the colours were beautiful. There was an old water pump that was just screaming at us to use in our photos. And of course what western photo doesn’t have a wagon wheel.

The cottage itself was superb.  There are eight rooms and each room has 4 bunk-beds. Everything indoors! We could go from our rooms to the cafeteria to the Scrap room where we scrapped until the wee hours of the morning. We wanted for nothing. The girls made sure there were plenty of sweets, fruit water and coffee on hand. I loved the fact that we were all in one place. I prefer this to a hotel were everyone goes there separate way. It is more personal. And we had such a great gang.

Here are some pictures. Of course we fooled around a lot during the photo shoot. We staged a shootout  and I won. I turned on “three” while Marie-Josée was waiting for “GO”. I created a double page of one. Check out the photos. The wording and “journaling” are in French but here’s the English Version

Showdown Mrs. Scrapbooking (I am a Stampin’ Up demo) and Ms Scrapper.

In the 1st photo I am counting. Can you see my “pistol” ? It was a little gun in a holster on a rope that goes around the neck. I will post a close up so you can see the real size.

One two…..

Next picture…. three and I turned fast and your dead! LOL

Marie-Josée posed for the death scene. I couldn’t have planned this. When I saw the photo, I knew I had to use it.

The second page is made the rest of the story. The banner reads “Wanted”  The photo of me with the scarf reads “last seen by the old wagon wheel.

Then of course the Cowboy sheriff found me.

Then at the end I added a journal so when my kids go through my things and wonder what the heck was Mom doing in these photos they will know that I was at a crop at Lac Pouce. The theme was “Western”  I had a blast playing cowboys. I must mention that this was a bingo challenge. Most of what you see on these pages are elements that had to be on there to win DOLLARS to buy tickets for the prizes.

Owls-Owls-Owls everywhere!!

Owls-Owls-Owls everywhere!!  I have an 2 owl classes this week. We will be making 3 cards using the owl builder punch from Stampin’ Up! I really don’t know why it took me sooooo long to buy this punch! There is so many things we can do with it. Of course I have made three different cards that I cased from Darlene DeVries- a pop up owl card, flying owl card and owls just chillin’ on a branch. They are sooooo cute! But wait! That’s not all. You can also make a tulip, a bat, a ghost, a fish, a penquin, and a reindeer. Wowzer!! So since we are making three cards and each card uses 3-5 owls, I punched the pieces ahead of time. I punched 112 owls and body parts to go with. I have make the tulip and today I will give a go at the other.

Here are the cards my ladies will make this week.

I also made a couple of Christmas cards this weekend using my new Festival of Trees Stamp set and matching Tree Punch and the Bright and Beautiful stamp set and the Star Framelits. Today I will attempt to make the Star Box. I think the Star box will make a cute presentation for a small gift or gift card. Who wants to just give a gift card in a plain store bought card? Not me! I am always looking for something original. Last year was the first year that over 50% of our gifts were gift cards and it looks like it will be that way again this year. The kids and the older grand kids want gift cards. I know it is a lot more fun shopping and being surprised, but at the age they are now….it makes more sense to give gift cards. One grand child is away at college so we know she needs MONEY. The other wants gifts that go beyond our budget so he just wants to save the money to get what he needs. I think that is very responsible. Don’t you?

Well here are a couple of pics of the cards I made on the weekend and gift card holders I have made in the last year. Hope you enjoy.

What do you do in the fall?

Somebody forgot to tell Mother Nature that fall only starts on September 22. It’s been cold here now for a few days. It was 24 degrees celcius on Wednesday September 10 and then it dropped to  22, then 12. Hey! from 22 to 12 in one day? That’s a huge leap.  The only other thing that drops so fast is my bank account!! Today at the moment it is 8 degrees celcius and may go up to 11. Darn cold for a September. Mother Nature, please bring us an Indian Summer!

The cooler days also brought the start of our hockey season. We follow  junior major league here in Québec. Our team is predicted to be one of the top 4 teams in our division. Somebody forgot to tell them. They lost the first game 7 to 1 Friday night. They played again Saturday afternoon and won 2 to 1 in a shoot out. Not very hopeful-eh? LOL did you catch the “eh”? Yep I’m from Canada and never realized I said “eh”.

So what do I do during the cooler days of “summer”? Well, of course I create. I created two cards yesterday. One is for our godson and one for my brother. We have three birthday is September of who I create cards for – our son is the third. His birthday at the beginning of September. I can’t show you the other two. Come back on the 20th and the 23rd of September to get a gander of theirs.

I can show you our son’s though. I am  going crazy with owls these days. I am having a class on the 24th of September. If you are in the area, drop by. If not contact me for information on my online classes coming in October 2014.

So here is our son’s card. Hope you enjoyed my rantings. Come back soon. In the meanwhile please Sign Up for my newsletter. Just fill out the form in the right column. You will receive  a free tutorial as well as periodic newsletters jammed packed with projects, tips and tricks, promotion notices, techniques.

As the lazy days of summer come to an end

As the lazy days of summer come to an end, I’m feeling a little blue. We are in between activities. Summer activities are finished and the fall ones have yet to begin. The grand-kids are back in school and our eldest grand-daughter is gone to college. We will see her only on long weekends and Christmas break.

I to am getting ready for the long winter. I am planning my online classes and clubs.

How great would it be to get the hostess dollars once every 6 months? All you have to do is place an order with me for 35$ (before taxes and shipping) and once every 6 months you will be hostess and will be able to choose anything in the current catalogs totaling 35$. Easy peasy! Contact me.

My first class was last week and it was great!

We made this gorgeous 3D faux book. The ladies had all kinds of ideas. This is my third. As you know I made one for our grand-daughter’s graduation. In case you did not see it click here. It even had a pocket for a little money gift. I made another so I could show the ladies and of course write up my tutorial. You can see that it here .

And…. here is the one I made for a Christmas gift.

Please leave me a comment on what you think of these faux book cards and please be nice.

What’s your best joke? share here

Wow!! Was it ever hot today. I did manage to do a short video though. It is mostly for beginners. How to mount your clear mount stamps! I will post it somethime this week. I still have a few tweeks to do. This weekend was catch up for me. I caught up on my inventory, my finances and something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I finally completed John Sanpeitro’s ( the Business Stampers Coach Group) class for Evernote. I don’t know if any of you have heard of Evernote, but it is the BOMB of Tasks and management.  You can save literally everything you can put in a file drawer in Evernote. I think of it as a paperless filing system. I have been copying and printing tutorials for years. Can I find them? NO! I have binders full. You can’t use word search in a binder. Heres how to get started using  Evernote Go to Evernote– set up an account (free). Create your categories (now don’t get carried away with the categories. The fewer the better. Then you tag everything. This is how you will find things, by searching the tags. I loved John’s class. I had been using Evernote for sometime but it was like my paper filing system-A mess. I hadn’t been using tags and just filed everything in one notebook (filefolder) Though John’s class is for business owners, I am sure anyone that follows it will be able to get the message he is driving. Let me give you an example on how Evernote works (in my laymans words) : You are on Pinterest or someone’s blog and there is an article or a picture you would love to save. Sure go ahead, save that page in you favorites or on your browser bar. Good luck trying to find it later. AND if you do find it that post or picture may be far away. With Evernote you click on the cute elephant icon (an elephant never forgets, right?) Check if you wish to save the article or the page and voila. If you have created a notebook called “Inbox” and made it your default everything will go there. Then go to your Evernote desktop  download, do a syncronization, tag you article and file it (move it to the appropriate notebook) Try doing that with your paper filing! Go ahead, I dare you.  So  I love Evernote before and am even lovin’ it more now. You can even take a picture with you mobile phone and file it to Evernote. Whoo hoo no more paper!! Laughing and pointing emoticon Now I’ve been told that this Saturday is “Tell a Joke Day”. I’m not very good at jokes. It has been a running gag at our house for years. You have to understand that until our first grand-daughter was born, I was the only woman in the house. When the boys were old enough to tell jokes,  it was the hype of the supper table.  One would tell a joke and they would all laugh….. except me. I just could never get the punch line or when I did they were already on another joke.  So eventually when they would see the question mark on my face, they would laugh and say “Don’t worry Mom, you’ll get it on Tuesday” Even to this day they still say that. However I am a little quicker. Now here’s the thing. I want to hear some of your jokes.   Post a joke here or on my FaceBook page. Let’s see if I really have gotten a little quicker. I may even decide to give a little surprise to the funniest joke. (only if it cracks me up) One thing though- keep it clean.

How to create a bird on a fence

Saturday was our eldest son’s birthday. Wow when your oldest turns 41, you feel old! But wait a minute. You’re only as old as you feel and some days I don’t feel that old at all!

I missed convention this year. Can’t go every year, but I followed on Facebook and the Stampin’ Up website. It is a great event and I hope to go again. Convention is great. It is three full days of inspiration, ideas and instruction and a whole lot of fun. Let me tell you this! The people at convention-demos and the Stampin’ Up employees are the best!! The greeting is amazing. The speakers are motivational. There are classes on product and how to run your business. Well it is the best experience anyone can ask for.
Just talking of my experience makes me regret not going this year but alas…..with hubby’s operation it was not possible.

Now back to reality. As I said earlier in my post, Saturday was out son’s birthday. We have three sons and one grandson, so I have to come up with a lot of masculine cards. I was inspired by two cards for the one I made. I took a little of Catherine Pooler and a little of Patty Bennett for my card. I used the Hardwood Background Stamp (Wood 133032, Clear 133035), punched the peaks of the fence with my Chevron Punch (132154), Used some Espresso brads for the screws. Those fringed scissors (133325) came in real handy to create the grass, don’t you think? Of course being in Québec I used the the French Version of Remembering Your Birthday (Wood: 131347, Clear 131350). I sponged a  sky and grass in the background and layered in on Espresso card stock.

I stamped two pieces of whisper very vanilla card stock with the Hardwood background stamp and cut strips using the dark line between the “planks”. I inserted each end into the Chevron punch stopping at the first chevron and lining up the middle of the “plank” and voila I now have a peak for my fence. I did this for six “planks”. I only needed two “planks” of the other stamped card stock to become the horizontal “planks”. Punch out the bird in the color of your choice and there you have it. A bird on a fence!

If you haven’t signed up for my newsletters, please do so today. You will receive a free tutorial just for signing up! Each month you will receive tutorials (cards, scrapbook layouts or techniques) a trick or two and tool tips and all of Stampin’ Up and Stamp with Jega promotions.

Bird on a fence

Guess what I got for my Birthday

It was a great weekend! My grand-daughter and I share the same Birthday, July 12th. She is 8 years old and well me… hmm we don’t ask a lady her age. LOL! Let me tell you that I was a little upset 8 years ago when I learned I would now have to share my Birthday. Today I think it is great. We go off by ourselves and do something special. Saturday we went to lunch. Unfortunately, Roxane wasn’t felling very well this year but we had a nice time anyway. It was such a beautiful day Saturday, The rest of the family was waiting for us in the yard balloons and all. We played cards and the kids had fun in the pool. Of course I don’t cook so Dear Hubby called for pizza.

I bet nobody can guess what I got for my birthday. I wonder how many women ask for one of these. I had asked for it a while back and was not even thinking of it. Well hubby put it in his memory (which he says is terrible, ha!) and lo and behold I got it!! Do you give up? Check the pic below.. Oh yes! Every Scrapper should have one. I’ll tell you why after the picture.

Lunch at St Hubert

Lunch at St Hubert

Then back at the house it twas time for gifts and fun in the sun! We had Pizza for supper and played cards of course! A perfect Day!!

my gift

Just a few of Roxane’s gifts. I made the Bendy Bear card and we gave Roxane a Paper Pumpkin with Stampin’ Up Markers. She love scrapbooking as you know.

When I go to a Crop, I bring my e-cutter, my laptop, and of course my heat embossing tool and a hot glue gun. Well, there never seems to be an electrical outlet near me and I never have a long enough extension cord. Well, what do you know?! I saw this at Walmart and told Roch I really needed this. He said “Well, buy it” Hmmm not something I wanted to buy for myself. I said it would make a great birthday gift. He looked at me with ????? on his face. What woman asks for and extension cord for her birthday! Welll……. me! So he got if for me. It was really the best gift I received! Now when I go to the yearly weekend crop or any crop for that matter I will be set – an extension cord with serveral plugs and that rolls up easily!   Yaaaaaaaaay for me!!

Two birthdays – 2 cakes. While my cake was store bought, Roxane’s mother does what I used to do for my kids. She made Roxane’s. I must say, she has much more talent the me! Isn’t that dolphin cake beautiful?

OMG Our first grand-child is graduating!

Oh my gosh!! Our first grand-daughter is graduating and leaving home. She is going to study to be a paralegal. The classes are given 2 and a half hours away! I know I know 2 and a half hours is not long but…..We are already planning a girls shopping day and she hasn’t even left yet LOL.

I wanted to make something really special to show her how proud we are of her. How could we not be? I have seen the faux book cards and love them.  I made a one (not 3D) for my sister. Then…. I saw the 3D ones- like a shadow box. As you all know I love shadow boxes. I hang pictures of our grand kids in DIY shadow boxes. You can see one of them here

Now back to our grand-daughters graduation gift. I really would like to know what you think. I just love it!

Sympathy Card- what inspires you?

Sympathy Cards- What inspires you? I have a difficult time creating Sympathy Cards in advance.  I have never made one to sell.

I hear how difficult making Sympathy cards are. I just think of the person and my hands do the rest. Here are three simply yet beautiful cards. For me sympathy cards should be simple yet elegant. What about you? What do you like in a sympathy card? When I have lost someone dear to me I just let my hands go through the motions while I think of the loved one lost. I just got back from a funeral of one of my uncles. He was sick for many years and my aunt took very good care of him for all of those years. I hope she finds solace in the fact that he no longer suffers. His is with his darling daughter who passed just over a year before him. The bird represents freedom. He is now free from the long suffering he had to endure for over 10 years. The colors- well I used purple which I read was appropriate for masculine sympathy cards. I sponged the background hoping it represents the outdoors, sky, (purple/blue; sun(two shades of yellow) and the green (grass). I embossed the background with the striped embossing folder just to give it the masculine look. Each of the others represent different feelings for me.

All or most of my Sympathy cards now are based on a stamp set in the Stampin’ Up catalog.  I love this stamp set and will be sad to see it go.Here are a couple of Sympathy cards I have made throughout with this stamp set.

As you can see – same stamp set-different feeling for each.
